I have never seen a tonal shift like this away from cozy fiction. It is so cool to see Qureshi doing something so unique (at least to me).
The book follows a young woman who wants to race dragons in a hella unsafe race, just like her older brother who died. Not only does the book have a lot of drama with the dangers of racing, Qureshi gives Genevieve’s character depth with the family dynamics we have been introduced to in Baby Dragon Cafe, and a fiery romance with a fellow racer.
I love the way Qureshi writes. The book is fast but doesn’t leave out important character development. Dude, I need folks to go read this! I want Qureshi to write more of these books (speaking of book 2 is out in 2027).
